A Brief History Of Kellyville Rugby

In the summer of 1972-73 a group of young, and not so young men from Seven Hills Cricket Club met in the Saloon Bar of the Seven Hills Hotel and resolved to do something to keep fit during the cricket off-season.

The first option was Rugby League as many had played previously or were still playing. Unfortunately they could not find a place in a competition and so it was resolved to try for Soccer. Once again their hopes were dashed as the round ball code rejected their advances.

Undaunted they turned their attention to the Sydney Sub-District Rugby Union Competition and after diligent and heartfelt submissions were admitted to the Meldrum Cup.
